In 2010, Sidney Crosby scored the Golden Goal in his first-ever Olympics, one of the greatest moments in sports history. He then led Team Canada to gold in 2014. That year, Erik Karlsson led all players in points (4G-4A-8PTS) en route to a silver medal as the tournament’s “Best Defenseman”.
There have now been 25 iterations of the Winter Olympics after competition began in France in 1924. Countless moments have been ingrained in Olympic history. But which stand out above the rest?
In this case, it was Russian athlete Evgeny Ustyugov who was stripped of the Vancouver 2010 gold medal in the 15km mass start biathlon and the bronze medal in the relay. He was also stripped of a gold medal at the 2014 Sochi Games in his home country, with athletes from that event receiving medals on Sunday as well.
